Lecturer position at the Tangible Music Lab, University of Arts Linz
At the University of Art and Industrial Design Linz, the Institute for Media, Department of Tangible Interaction Design is inviting applications for the following course for the summer semester 2026 as part of the master’s program Postdigital Lutherie: Radical Instrumentalism, 2 hours per week, min. € 3003.42 gross wage per semester.
Descriptin of the course:
The course Radical Instrumentalism is intended to provide students of the “Postdigital Lutherie” degree program with more in-depth media and design theoretical concepts in connection with their work as musical instrument makers. We are looking for a personality who deals with musical instrument making from both a practical and theoretical perspective and who identifies with a radical reorientation in the design of musical instruments. The course will be held in English and is also intended to consider international perspectives beyond the European context.
Recruitment requirements:
- Practical experience in contemporary musical instrument making
- Design research and teaching in the field of Musical instrument making
- Publication activity on the topic of New Interfaces for Musical Expression
- English and German language skills
Possible teaching focus:
- Design theory of post/digital musical instrument making
- Interaction Design in post/digital Musical Instrument Making
- Mediatheoretical Foundations of Post-Digitality
- Current trends in post/digital instrument making
