Senior Lecturer position at the Tangible Music Lab, University of Arts Linz
The University of Art and Design Linz is inviting applications for a Senior Lecturer position in the Institute for Media, Department of Tangible Interaction Design / Tangible Music Lab, starting on March 1, 2025. This position is part-time at 75% and is limited to six years. The monthly gross salary for the advertised Senior Lecturer position is EUR 2,684.10 (14 times per year) according to § 49 Abs 3 KV.
The Tangible Music Lab at the University of Art and Design Linz offers a comprehensive and practice-oriented artistic-scientific education. The department conducts research in the field of musical interaction design and offers, in collaboration with the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz, an English-language Master’s program in Postdigital Lutherie.
The advertised Senior Lecturer position will actively engage in the artistic-scientific teaching related to the artistic design and technical implementation of contemporary musical instruments, while also supporting student projects. Teaching responsibilities will primarily focus on digital and electronic sound synthesis, as well as an introduction to (digital) electronics and programming. The position also requires a technical contribution to the department’s research projects and to actively participate in the development and maintenance of the technical infrastructure at the Tangible Music Lab. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications, there may also be the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree as part of this position.
Requirements:
- Completed technical or artistic university degree
- Teaching experience in higher education
- High technical competence in acoustics, electronics, and computer science
- High technical competence in sound programming and music technology
- Active artistic practice in sound art
- Very good knowledge of English, good knowledge of German
- Excellent communication skills
- Competence in gender and diversity issues
