// Postdigital Ensemble
The Postdigital Ensemble presents a new collaborative composition created together by the group.
The piece is played on instruments that carry a postdigital spirit. Some parts are finished, while others remain in progress.
The Performance Structure
The performance is a 45-minute continuous exploration of sound, divided into three core movements:
Phase I: Breath & Emergence (00:00 – 15:00)
The piece begins with Breathing, where individual sounds are repeated according to each performer’s breath cycle. This builds into a static, intense drone. As the rhythm stabilizes with the bass drum, Song 1 emerges, followed by a period of collective improvisation.
Phase II: Pulse & Fusion (15:00 – 30:00)
Following a fade-out, a solo by Lukas leads into a trio with Ricardo and Boris. The entire ensemble eventually joins under a specific pulse. This provides the backdrop for Song 2, characterized by its rhythmic overlay.
Phase III: Density & Departure (30:00 – 45:00)
The final movement pushes toward a noisy, dense texture as slow rhythms evolve back into intense drones. After a final fade-out, only a single pulse remains. Over this final heartbeat, Song 3 is performed, concluding with a final improvisation between the voice and the synth pulse.
Lyric Editions
Included in this performance are three vocal movements (Songs 1-3) reflecting on internal coldness, the yearning for the sky, and the search for “those eyes” amidst the digital noise.
In the struggle between darkness and light
the battle for existence and non-existence
dried up by the river
standing on the hills of ash and smoke
Colored papers wrapped around cold thoughts
A ground smelling of grumbles and deaf eyes
It doesn’t matter what was good or what turned out bad
These eyes just keep getting hungrier
Every day they stare at the ceiling in anticipation
wishing for something better to happen
just for me(them)
If you are the Creator, it’s as if these birds have died.
I know this sky is still alive
Twist around my branches, even if it’s wrong
Sit on my shoulders until I run to the finish line
Not for the sake of trouble, but to uproot the pain
My Iran, I entrust you to the hands of a thousand dandelions
that ones which in one day, without warning,
Has fly from my heart
I will rebuild you, my homeland
So no one will not be forced to leave you,
with the glory of this end
the immortals are with us
this spring is no longer far away
our kisses are not soaked in blood
Sky, do not cry
the fellow traveler will return
Sky, do not turn cloudy
the story will reach its end
Sky, I can see they are no longer behind the door
Sky, the heart grows heavy at midnight for no reason
Release a sorrow from me
Introduce a heart to mine (make it familiar again)
The earth took you away from me
Rain down and turn this dust into water
Release a sorrow from me
Sever the trouble from my soul
The earth took you away from me
Rain down and break free from your bonds
I didn’t understand where I was standing
I didn’t realize there was still a way left
I keep asking, “How does this end?”
I am the one who broke his promise
I didn’t understand where I am now
Maybe I made a mistake again
I keep searching inside my head
Looking for those eyes
