Ulla Rauter is a senior lecturer at the Tangible Music Lab and works as a media artist and musician at the interface of sound art and visual art. Her experimental, sensor-based musical instruments have been presented internationally in live performances and exhibitions. Central themes of her artistic exploration include the human voice as both a source material and an electronic live instrument, as well as silence as a place of longing.
In 2010, she co-founded the annual sound art exhibition Klangmanifeste with Christine Schörkhuber. From 2013 until 2025 she has been teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2017, she received the Austrian State Scholarship for Media Art.
